Leg Training 101 for Women
This post is brought to you by popular demand. You guys wanted it, so you guys get it. This is a follow up post to Weight Lifting 101 for Women. This post is of course essential, because what good is a muscular, toned upper body without sexy, sculpted legs to match? Today I listed some of my favorite leg exercises to do. I have always had big, muscular legs. It runs in my family and genetics definitely play apart. To add to that when I was growing up, I danced, did gymnastics, ran track, played volleyball, and was a cheerleader. All of those activities just added more muscle. I hated my legs and butt when I was younger. I constantly wore baggy shirts that were too big for me so they would cover up my butt since it stuck out so much. As I grew older, I learned to embrace it. Now, I love it. For me, legs are a fun group of muscles to push to the limits since they are the strongest part of my body. I know it is important to a LOT of women out there to sculpt beautiful legs, so I hope this post is a reference for you to rely on for ideas and education.
I need to start strength training do you have to use weights? I dont go to a gym, guess I need to buy some.
ReplyDeleteI need to do more of this so it'll help my knees!
ReplyDeleteLeg day. Oh, how I love to hate it!!! I hate how hard I have to work but I love the burn after! This is a great mix for the perfect work out!
ReplyDeleteA+++++++++ this is the best guide EVER!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love leg day!! It's my favorite. This is an excellent guide to get started on working those leggies!! The glute bridge and Romanian deadlifts are my fav!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome!!! Thanks so much!!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I've always had muscular legs from my dancing/swimming days and I used to hate them too. Now I love having sculpted legs and a big booty. I was just thinking I need to start doing a leg day so I'll be using these exercises for sure!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I just got told today that I really need to work on my glutes so I will definitely be trying these exercises.
ReplyDeleteYou have such awesome legs! I'll take all the advice I can get to make mine more toned :)

Thank you for this!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this! And girl you got booty! (I do too - a whole lot of it!)
ReplyDeleteI love this post! I've always been a runner, and that used to be enough, but once I hit 25, it's been downhill in terms of just running doing the trick. Plus, flat butt runs in my family, which is not going to cut it, so I really appreciate this easy list - and love that I don't have to go to the gym for a lot of them :) I've noticed such a difference in how I feel since doing other workouts in addition to running - and it's improving my runs!
ReplyDeleteI just love these super informative posts, thanks Liz! I need some extra help with my inner thigh, so I'll be putting these to use ;)
ReplyDeleteYES! This gives me the motivation to get back into my leg (and bootayy) training. It was one of my favorite parts of working out! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Liz!

ReplyDeleteThanks lady! Great tips! I really need to get on this train asap!
ReplyDeleteSo true that squats do not primarily target the glute area! I love that you pointed out that we should avoid hanging onto the treadmill. Great tips!
ReplyDeleteAh, I love leg day! I'm so glad you've pointed out that squats do not primarily target the glutes. I get so bored of telling people this and them paying no attention to me whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteSome great tips in this post. :)
Love these visuals! Usually when I read blogs about leg workouts I end up having to youtube them to figure out what the move it- thanks for making it easy!
ReplyDeletethanks so much for sharing gorgeous! i will admit i don't do my calves as much as i should, oops. i hurt my knee pretty bad on a leg curl machine (or was it the leg extension?) many years ago so i'm pretty much afraid of all machines haha. thanks for saying the hip abductor or whatever is useless, i used to use those all the time until someone told me! i had no idea glutes were secondary, thanks for sharing! oh my gosh i love wide leg squats. love ya girl!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is so incredibly helpful. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of leg day. Now the few days after, not so much! Such a great list of exercises. I love the stiff legged deadlifts. My favorite is the curtsy lunges too very good for inner and outer thighs. Feel the burn!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Thanks for sharing! I too have muscular legs and thighs and have always been wary of leg day. I've always figured that between Body Pump and running, my legs were covered. Thanks for the exercises!!
